Cookies
Browser preferences, external links and how this website limits optional requests.
Optional services
The website application does not load analytics or advertising tools. Optional content means two things: the Google Maps map on our contact page and the live Food Standards Agency hygiene badge in the footer. Each loads only if you allow optional content. When it loads, Google or the agency may receive your IP address and browser information. You do not need to allow either to read menus, find our address, get directions, contact us or use the booking link.
We remember your choice in this browser's local storage under the key lapen-privacy for 180 days. It holds only the choice, when you made it and when it expires, and is never sent to a service. You can change it at any time from Privacy choices at the bottom of every page, or on our privacy page.
Your theme preference
The light/dark theme control remembers your chosen appearance in this browser's local storage under the key theme. The application reads it to restore that appearance and does not send the value to a service. Local storage has no automatic expiry; you can clear it using your browser's site-data controls. Clearing it returns the site to your device's light/dark preference. You can change the theme using the control in the site header or mobile navigation.
This preference is used only to provide the appearance you request. It is separate from analytics or advertising choices.
Closing the site notice
If you close the notice below the site header, this browser's session storage keeps the key the-prince-of-wales:site-banner:dashain-closure-2026:closed-this-session. It remembers that you closed the site notice and is kept until you close the tab. It holds no personal data and is not sent to a service. It is strictly necessary to keep the notice closed as you asked.
Maps and the food hygiene rating
Our home and contact pages show the address and travel details as text. The contact page shows a Google Maps map only if you allow optional content; until then no request goes to Google. When the map loads, Google may receive your IP address and browser information and may use its own cookies or storage. Get directions opens Google Maps only when you follow the link. The footer links to our official Food Standards Agency record in every case. The live official badge appears beside it only if you allow optional content. The badge and these links send no referring page address.
External sites receive your IP address and request information when you visit them and may use their own cookies or storage. Their notices explain their use; this website cannot change or withdraw choices you make on those sites.
Booking and contacting us
Booking online takes you to Nabatable's website. Read its privacy and cookie notices before entering details. Email and phone links open your chosen app. You can also call 01234 822447.
Hosting and security
Hosting and security services process requests to deliver and protect the website. Their current browser-storage behaviour still needs verification. The absence of an analytics cookie does not, by itself, establish an exemption for device access.
